Mary

Prayer with Mary's Magnificat

Learning trust and courage from Mary's song.

Holy Mary, you who said yes before you understood what it would cost, teach me to say yes. My soul magnifies the Lord. Teach me to magnify, to make God larger in my life by attention and praise, when fear would rather magnify my problems. He has looked with favor on the lowliness of His servant. You were nobody's candidate: young, poor, from a town nobody quoted. Remind me that God's gaze rests on the overlooked, and that includes me on my smallest days. He has scattered the proud, lifted up the lowly, filled the hungry with good things. Your song is not sentimental; it is a revolution of tenderness. Give me your courage to believe that the world's order is not God's order, and that the last word belongs to mercy. You who carried Christ in your body, teach me to carry Him in my life: patiently, hiddenly, at real cost, until He is born in me. Pray for me, Mother, now and at the hour of my death. Amen.
